Super Save is an easy-to-use control panel which allows you to save every keystroke you make. As you type away in your favorite word processor, Super Save will be saving every keystroke you make to a save file in your System folder. This allows Super Save to be an integral part of your data protection strategy.

Install Super Save into your Control Panels folder and restart. Super Save will create a folder in your System folder titled ‚ÄúSuper Save Δí.‚Äù In this folder Super Save will save the files that will contain a record of your keystrokes. Super Save creates one save file per day, and each of these files has it‚Äôs creation date appended to it‚Äôs name.

  12. Super Save is a ‚Äúfat‚Äù system extension. That is, the saving code runs native on a Power PC. Super Save displays a small red triangle in it‚Äôs start up icon if it loads a the Power PC native code.

  14. The Super Save control panel options are listed below. Please note that you may also turn on Balloon Help in the Super Save control panel in order to get a quick explanation of each of these options.

  16. Activate Keystroke Saving: Turns Super Save on and off

Keystroke buffer size: This controls the actual size of the keystroke memory buffer used to save keystrokes. When this buffer get‚Äôs full, Super Save saves the buffer to the current save file. Higher numbers inprove System performance with less writes to the disk, but, if a System crash occurs, you may lose up to the number of keystrokes you specify here.

Days before deleting file: Super Save will manage the save files in the Super Save folder for you. Specify here the maximum number of days you want to keep a save file around. Super Save will delete a file when it becomes this old. File deletion is only done at System startup time. You may set this option to zero to turn off the automatic file deletion.

  22. Save file creator: Specifies the ‚Äúcreating‚Äù application for the save file. If you have an application you would like to see on this list, just send it my way and I will add it.

Activate only for selected applications: Tells Super Save to be active only when an application from a user specified application list is currently the front process. This is useful if you are only concerned about saving keystrokes when, for example, you are using word processor. Set the applications with the button below this checkbox.

Password Bypass Toggle: Under this heading are two options that are used in controling the password bypass feature in Super Save. The password bypass feature allows you to temporarily tuen off Super Save‚Äôs keystroke recording so that you can enter a password or someother sensative data with out worry that it will be recorded to the save file. The first option governs the keystroke that will be used to temporarily shut off Super Save. Please note that what ever key your enter in here must be pressed at the same time with the Command and Option keys in are to start the pasword bypass. Also note that the key you enter in here is case sensative. That is, if you enter the letter ‚Äôp‚Äô, your keystroke would be <command>-<option>-<p>; but if you enter the letter ‚ÄôP‚Äô (note the case difference), your keystroke would be <command>-<option>-<shift>-<p>. The second option under the Paswword Bypass Toggle heading is Keys Until Toggle On. Here you set the number of keystrokes that Super Save will skip before activating again. Please ensure that you set this number large enough so that all of your passwords will ‚Äúfit‚Äù in the number of keystrokes that Super Save will skip. Super Save will play a keystoke sound at the start and the end of the password bypass period. When you hear the second keystroke sound, be aware that all keystrokes are being recorded again.

Minutes between Auto-Saves: Super Save can send the current application a periodic Command-S keystroke. This will cause the current application to save the current document. Use this option to set the amount of time in between each Auto-Save signal. Set this time to zero to shut off this feature.

Use Auto-Save for only certain applications: Check this box to use Auto-Save in only certain applications. This is recomended as not all applications map the Command-S keystroke to their document saving menu item. Use the Set Applications‚Ķ betton below this option to set up the active application list for the Auto-Save feature. Note that this application list is not the same as the keystroke saving active application list.
